Meet the Team
Veterinarian
Dr. Michelle Savigny
Dr. Savigny spent most of her career working as a criticalist in different specialty hospitals in Western Washington. In 2018, she adopted a Golden Retriever with severe elbow dysplasia. While she had always had an interest in rehabilitation therapy, it wasn’t until then that she truly saw the benefits and potential that the field held.
After two years of exploring different types of rehabilitation therapy with her own dog, Dr. Savigny decided that it was time for her to make the switch from emergency medicine to rehabilitation and integrative care, and she hasn’t looked back since!
Dr. Savigny enjoys focusing on each individual animal so that she can offer a comprehensive evaluation and detailed recommendations personalized for that patient, family and situation. While she enjoys caring for all types of patients, she has a special place in her heart for older dogs and cats. She utilizes a multi-modal approach of care that includes facets of both Eastern and Western medicine in order to offer every animal the opportunity to enjoy more good days.
Lead Assistant
Alicia Clifford
Alicia was always drawn to animals from a young age. As a child, if you asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she always replied with “ Veterinarian”.
Alicia grew up in Southern California where she originally went to school for photography. She was drawn to photographing pets and their people. In 2015 she moved to Washington and ended up volunteering at a local animal shelter. It was there that she decided to finally pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
In 2016 she finished her Veterinary Assistant Certification Program at Pima Medical Institute and got her first assistant job in Seattle. Alicia worked in general practice for three years and gravitated towards surgery, anesthesia, and more complicated cases that typically ended up being sent to specialty hospitals. She then decided to focus on a specialty that allowed her to help people and their animals through these difficult conditions.
In 2020 she transitioned to veterinary rehabilitation where she was paired with Dr. Savigny and their working styles and goals just clicked. This is where she found her love for orthopedics and helping the old sweet arthritic dogs and cats. After two years of working together, Alicia decided to help build and expand the idea of
“Balanced Paws Veterinary Rehabilitation” with Dr. Savigny.
When Alicia is not working, she is typically found at the boxing gym. She has been practicing martial arts for the past 10 years, including, kickboxing, muay thai, and boxing. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her animals. She shares her home with 2 dogs, a German Shepherd and a cattle dog mix, 2 cats and 7 chickens.
