Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ's
What types of conditions can veterinary rehabilitation help with?
Veterinary rehabilitation can assist with a variety of conditions, including post-surgical recovery, arthritis, neurological disorders, and injuries from accidents or sports.
Do I need a referral from my veterinarian to schedule?
You do not need a referral to book an appointment with us. However, having your pet evaluated with your vet first can be helpful. While x-rays are not a requirement before your consult, it might be beneficial as part of our assessment. We may also suggest this based on our exam.
Do you only treat dogs?
We also care for cats! Our feline patients vary in age from 3 to 20 years old and have diverse medical needs. However, we do not provide treatment for exotic or large animals.
What services do you offer?
We provide integrative rehabilitation and pain management for dogs and cats. Services include acupuncture, laser therapy, therapeutic exercise, medical manipulation (chiropractic), extracorporeal shockwave therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Arthramid injections, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, thermal imaging, intravenous ketamine infusions, and customized post-operative rehabilitation packages
What payment options do you accept?
We accept all major credit/debit cards, checks and exact cash.

We do not work directly with insurances but will provide you with an itemized paid invoice and can send records where they are needed.

We currently do not take CareCredit.
How long are treatments recommended?
Depending on the patient we typically recommend acupuncture once weekly for 4-6 weeks and then spaced out from there based on response.

Laser can range from once to twice weekly to start and then also spaced out based on response.

Medical manipulation (chiropractic) is typically once monthly to every few months.
How do I schedule an appointment?
We are a small 2-3 person practice and do not have a receptionist. The easiest way to get ahold of us is email or text. If you want to schedule a new consult please go to the "Request a Consult" option at the top of the page and fill out the form that is linked. We will email you with prices and options for dates and times available.
If you wish to speak to someone directly, please email or text with preferred days/times available and we will schedule a time to talk.
What makes Balanced Paws different from other clinics?
We are a woman-owned small business in Edgewood Washington that thrives outside the corporate world. We create a welcoming atmosphere with a clinic that feels more like a home than a typical vet office.
We treat each patient as an individual and understand that a cookie-cutter treatment plan does not always work for every patient. We strive to create a plan that works for each individual pet and their family.
